Back in 2016 completed the amazing Shine from Within Youth Mentor training which has been created by the beautiful Amanda Rootsey. It has taught me so much and I’m so thrilled to share the details with you all!

As a Mum, Business Woman & Health and Lifestyle Coach, I’m always looking to learn new skills; listening to my intuition to follow the things that speak to me. The Shine from Within Youth Mentor training program did just that; it reached out to me at the perfect time and in the perfect way.

Like most Mums, I’m time poor and to commit my time and financial resources to something, it has to be amazing, epic, worth my time! This program is absolutely perfect because it is delivered in six modules with a new module being released each fortnight. I was so thrilled with the content, which included videos, PDF downloads, audio recordings (which I listen to in the car in between Yoga classes), group coaching calls as well as specialist interviews with guest teachers and experts, all of whom are personally selected by Amanda from Shine from Within! Topics were totally engaging and taught me skills on how to engage with young people; Duty of Care obligations; marketing and business topics; curriculum development and so much more. A link to Shine from Within website providing all course details can be found HERE.

Following my completion of the Shine from Within Youth Mentor training program, I’ve felt called to really concentrate my energies in working with young women and children; to create programs and spaces for families to come together; to nurture and foster personal relationships, explore in a safe space the changes happening to young women in mind, body and soul; teach young girls personal development skills, all the while creating a warm and encouraging environment. This course has given me the additional tools I needed to leap forward with my new teachings including the Namaste Beautiful: Mother & Daughter EveningsNamaste Beautiful: Yoga for Teen Girlsmore Health and Wellness Workshops (more info coming soon!) and my Happy Little Yogis E-Book (being released soon!).

Are your interested in studying with Shine from Within yourself?

I am so proud and honoured to be asked to be an affiliate for this great program. I only ever endorse programs I have personally completed and loved. And I love, love, LOVED this program; it has and will continue to open doors for myself and my business. This program has also equipped me with skills that I know will be so beneficial as my beautiful girls continue to grow and their relationships and self-identity develop and change. If you feel called to undertake the Shine from Within program, please register by following the link HERE. Course applications close very soon so don’t walk, run!

Happy Little Yogis – Yoga, Health and Mindfulness for Kids

During the last school holidays I invited a group of children I teach at a local preschool to join me for a  kids yoga class at the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens to do a photo/film shoot.

One of the mamas, Amanda Green from the children’s preschool was our amazing photographer for the day and Tom from Gravity Films was our awesome camera man. I am sure you will agree they have both caught some beautiful moments that really captures the whole lifestyle and essence of what Happy Little Yogis is all about.

When I have spoken to people about Happy Little Yogis  in the past I generally focused in on the “yoga” aspect of HLY however to be honest, it’s a whole lifestyle… and it’s more than just “yoga” and what I wanted to get across in this shoot was all over those extra little things that I believe are so important for our children.

When I brainstorm and mind-map HLY (yes I am huge lover of a good mind-map to get all the creative ideas out on paper) these are some of the things that that I believe are so important for children and what HLY is all about:

Yoga: breathing, meditation, movement,  stretching, building strength, balance and focus.

Health: whole-foods, holistic health and wellness, cooking, growing your own foods, essential oils, holistic and natural therapies.

Mindfulness: respecting our beautiful Mother Earth, spending time in nature, crystals, gratitude, community, holistic play, creativity, kindness, gardening, caring for animals, recycling, mindful money/spending, minimalism, positivity thinking and affirmations.

HLY has been a huge vision of mine for many years and it keeps evolving and changing in the best way possible… there are so many things I am working on BTS (behind the scenes) and I am so excited to share whats coming next… most of it will be a secret for a little bit longer while I put a few things into place but what I can share now is I have some downloadable kids yoga videos coming very soon so kids can practice yoga with me at home!

This has been a big dream of mine for a long time and I feel like now is (finally) the perfect time to get it out into the world. I can not wait to share this with you soon!

One more thing I’d love to share with you before I sign off is a very generous offer from ‘I AM ME’ affirmation cards for children (cards pictured below). Chelsea is offering the Happy Little Yogis Tribe a massive 15% discount + half price shipping between now and 9PM on Tuesday, July 31st off her beautiful ‘I AM ME’ affirmation cards for children. Yoga for Children with Additional Needs and Autism

Happy Little Yogis with AimeeHappy Little Yogis: Special Yogis

Teaching children brings so much joy to my life and is something I am so incredibly proud of. More recently, we here at Happy Little Yogis have been so thrilled to bring our special kids classes to some really special yogis. You see, these special kids have the most beautiful of smiles; a zest for life and they also just happen to have some special needs. These Happy Little Yogis are children with Additional needs and Autism.

My amazing partner, Gavin comes from a background of supporting those with special and additional needs – his ‘day job’ is in fact a Support Worker for adults with additional needs for his ‘day job’. So, for quite some time now, it has been a big part of our lives to see the joy and peace supporting people with additional needs and finding ways in which to best communicate, and the change and difference it can make in the life of a person with special and additional needs.

Personally, my first experience in meeting a person with special and additional needs takes me back to my days as a little girl in Primary School. Before and after school, my little brother and I would attend a local Family Day Care and our lovely carer had two boys, one of whom had been diagnosed with ASD at quite a young age. I was a few years older than this boy but almost instantly, we had a lovely connection despite our differences; our differences in our ability to express ourselves; our differences in how we communicated; our differences in how we dealt with our emotions and feelings. Despite all of our differences, I knew this little boy to be kind. He was caring. He was loving and gentle. Despite being a young child myself, I never judged this little boy and felt that together, we had an understanding of each other and formed a little friendship.

The reason I have shared these stories for both Gavin and myself is because this is the same energy and respect that we bring in to each and every single class each week, and even more so in our Happy Little Yogis: Special Yogis classes. For us as teachers and parents, and more so, as humans, it is so important to have a deep, honest and heartfelt respect for these beautiful children – whilst they may learn differently and sometimes communicate and express themselves in different ways to us, they are children. Children who are open to learning and absorbing new information and new skills. For us as teachers, it is important for us to build a trust and show these beautiful little yogis that we completely respect them; that we don’t treat them differently but rather, we will worth with them and their individual needs.

The feedback we have been receiving from the parents has been incredible and it honestly makes me really emotional to hear that we can help bring these awesome little people’s lives (and their families lives) more ease, joy and happiness. I always come home after our Monday class together feeling so inspired and truly bursting with so much love and happiness!

Our classes focus on:

~ building our Special Yogis confidence

~ body awareness / self-awareness

~ self calming

~ routine (same day, time and venue)

~ social skills

~ strength

~ mindfulness

~ centring and grounding

~ love and respect for themselves and others

~ Small group yoga classes for children with Autism and Additional needs

~ Yoga in schools (preschool, primary and high schools)

~ Working with other providers and carers that work with children with Autism and Additional needs
